Food is by far the most important aspect of one's health. Quite literally, "you are what you eat." If you eat good healthy foods, you will be a healthy individual; likewise, if you eat junk food and food full of artificial ingredients and god knows what else, quite frankly, you won't be.
As I'm sure you know, much of the food you find in the supermarkets has been sprayed with pesticides, then processed, then chocked-full of artificial ingredients to "enhance" flavorings, colorings, and shelf life. The effects of many, if not most, of these additives have not been thoroughly investigated, yet somehow the FDA approves them for human consumption anyway!
But as a consumer you have the right and the ability to choose what goes into your body. Your body is your temple and you should fill it with delicious and nutritious foods. Foods that will energize you, foods that will improve your health, foods that are good for you and will do no harm.
Due to the negative and unknown effects of pesticides and additives, many people are switching to Organic foods and produce. Many people nowadays are unable to eat additives. People like those of us with Interstitial Cystitis are finding that are condition is worsened by these "food enhancing" products.
While, yes, some food additives are certainly beneficial, our society has gone food additive crazy. It had become difficult to find foods without it...Until recently. Organic products are now found everywhere. You can find them in your local supermarket, in Wal-Mart, even in retail stores like Walgreens and Longs!
I encourage you to start your journey to a healthier you by looking at the ingredients in the products you purchase at the store. See how many of them you can read, then look at the ingredients in similar organic alternatives. Then, start supporting your local organic farmers! Purchase organic products, especially those produced by a farmer near you. Better your health, support your community. There's not better way to shop!
